There are numerous applications of the GTO Capacitors, including high peak surge current, RMS current and surge voltage, with temperatures support 70C, 85C and 105 degrees Celsius. The GTO and IGCT Snubber protection is another important aspect, as are the suitability for motor control, static drive applications and several projects in the traction industry.

The electrical characteristics are various and include a capacitance range between 0.15 and 200uF, as well as a voltage range between 400 to 6,800Vdc and 160Vrms to 2,400Vrms. The maximum current supported is up to 85A, while the capacitance tolerance is 5% or 10%.
The capacitors can be supported up to +105C

Finally, the high insulation resistance and the low inductance and ESR are two other important characteristics.
